

William R. “Wild Bill” Hager, age 78, of Woodland passed on January 4, 2017 at Spectrum Health Pennock Hospital surrounded by his family after a brief illness. Bill was born on September 13, 1938 in Sunfield Township to Kenneth and Ila (Munson) Hager. He was a 1956 graduate of Woodland High School and went on to serve in the Army. In 1958 he married the love of his life Elmerna Soules whom preceded him in death. Bill retired after 30 years from Clark Equipment in Battle Creek and then worked part time in “Earls Sportstop”. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching wildlife in the backyard and his westerns on TV, and spending time with friends and family sharing stories over a cold beer. Bill was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 3782. The family will miss his unique to the point sense of humor and take it or leave it attitude. He will be dearly missed by; children; Kelly (Rich) Courtney, Gary (Diana) Hager, Tina (Ralph) Livingston, grandchildren; Dustin Courtney, Cassidy (Denny) Kilmartin, Cassaundra (Jake) Goodner, William (Alecia) Hager, Kendra (Rebecca) Hager, Trevin Teike, Kalli (Matt) Mier, great grandchildren; “Bubba” Chanse Courtney, Taryn Teike; sisters Sarah Studt, Jackilyn (James) Hilliker, Ivy Rairigh, good friends Linda (Chuck) Berry, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding Bill in death are siblings Nancy Margosian, Dean Hager and Myrna Decker, brother in law Wendel Studt. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 2pm until 5pm at Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa, MI. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Koops Funeral Chapel at 11am. Burial will take place in Woodland Memorial Park immediately following the service.
