Angelo was born on November 28, 2006 to parents Natalie Ray and Gustavo Guzman. Born and raised in the West Palm Beach, FL area, he enjoyed doing what most 14 year old boys do; competing in all kinds of sports, playing video games and hanging out with friends. He was most passionate about fishing, collecting sneakers, basketball and family.
Since he could walk, Angelo never missed an opportunity to go fishing with his Grandpa and just loved being out on the ocean. The 4am wake up calls didn’t stop him, although he was known for taking little naps anywhere on the boat where he felt so comfortable. He loved catching bait at the Boynton Inlet at the break of dawn and going off shore to find a school of dolphin or anything that would bite. Angelo also loved snorkeling, diving for lobster and most recently started paddle-boarding with his mom. He often said he wanted to be a Commercial Fisherman or a Marine Mechanic when he grew up. His favorite place was in the Florida Keys where his family would vacation annually. Angelo loved being with his family and we made so many amazing memories there together that will never be forgotten.
Angelo was what some would call a “Sneaker Head”. His birthday and Christmas lists always contained at least one pair of Nikes and he would always have a plan on how he could work and save for his next pair. He collected so many as his feet were constantly growing into the next size and he kept his look fresh and each pair looking new. When he ran out of space in his closet he would hand down the pairs too small to younger relatives or donate to those in need.
Basketball was also a part of his life from a young age and he was a skilled player that enjoyed competing. His favorite team was the Miami Heat and his Abuela took him and his sister, Mia to the exciting games. He loved playing and learning from the man he always looked up to, Uncle “Tio” Kris and also his coaches, teammates and friends through the years. A bit vertically-challenged as he was growing into adulthood, he compensated with his quickness and always wanting to get better through practice.
Angelo loved to be anywhere by the ocean, but he was also always in for going to events and exploring new places with his aunts, uncles and many cousins. He had hopes to travel across the United States from New York to San Diego and also wanted to go to Colombia where his father’s family was from.
Angelo touched the lives of everyone around him and our lives will never be the same without him here. He laughed easy and had an infectious smile, with dimples that lasted for days. Angelo will forever be our angel.
