October 12, 1945 – April 3, 2026
Charles Edward Dover, age 80, peacefully entered his heavenly home in the early morning hours of April 3, 2026, following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease and congestive heart failure.
Born in 1945 in Fyffe, Alabama, to Ulas J. and Dorothy F. Dover, Charles spent his early childhood in Alabama before relocating with his family to Florida at age seven. In the late 1960s, he met Janet E. Dover at Pappa Leo’s. Bound by a shared devotion to family, they married and began a life together.
Charles was defined by his tireless work ethic. Over the decades, his skilled hands took on many forms: he worked as a dairy farmer at Melear’s Dairy in the 70s, a trim carpenter in the 80s, and a small engine mechanic at Indian Springs Golf Course in the 90s. He eventually retired at age 70 from The Everglades Club, leaving behind a reputation for reliability and dedication.
Even in his downtime, Charles was rarely still. He could always find the "diamond in the rough," whether he was fixing up lawnmowers and bicycles or restoring old cars to resell. He was a fixture at local flea markets and garage sales, loved a good road trip, and enjoyed listening to music and talk radio. In his later years, he developed the love for golf whether on the course or watching it on the television.
His greatest legacy remains his family. He will be deeply missed by his children, Becky (Don), Darlene (Dennis), and Eddie (Torri). He was the loving Grandpa to his grandchildren, James, Paul, Faith, and Elizabeth.
Charles is survived by his siblings, Harlin (Jeanette) Dover and Linda (Gareth) McDonald, as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Junior, Jimmy, and Melvin Dover.
