Daniel was born June 28, 1988, to John and Maria Teresa (Contreras) Michaels. He attended schools in El Paso, TX, and Atlanta, GA. He graduated from Brookwood High School in 2005, where he was a member of the State Champion Swim Team.
Daniel served in the U.S. Army for four years as a Combat Medic. He worked in the Cardiac ward at Brooke Army Medical Center and earned Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification for the state of TX. Daniel was hand-picked to be the head medic of a small team assembled from all medical personnel on Camp Casey Army Base, in the Republic of South Korea; and served as a head medic in the 101st Airborne Division, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, Fort Campbell, KY.
Daniel graduated from Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, FL with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a Minor in International Economics. He then earned a national Series 7 and a Series 66 license. Daniel worked for two years as a Financial Advisor for AIG Retirement Services.
For the last 10 years, Daniel was working at The Breakers Palm Beach Hotel as a Protective Service specialist. He was respected and valued by his teammates for his professionalism and his “beautiful disposition.”
Daniel was a person of few words, funny and witty, yet very insightful; he had an entrepreneurial spirit. More importantly, he was a loving, sincere soul who loved his family, friends by always looking for ways to serve others and make others feel better. His smile could light up a room. Daniel was humble, kind, and considerate and his departure leaves an immense void in all our hearts.
Daniel is survived by his parents John and Maria Teresa of Columbia, SC; his brother James, of Okinawa, Japan. He also leaves his paternal grandmother, Delia Michaels, of West Palm Beach, FL. He is also survived by the families of his uncle Frank Michaels of Royal Palm Beach, FL; aunt Jacqueline Michaels-Haas of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; uncle Wilson Michaels of New York City, NY; uncle Jorge Contreras of Quebec, Canada; aunt Marta Nieto-Contreras of Cali, Colombia; uncle Santiago Contreras of Cali, Colombia; uncle Oscar Contreras of Santa Rosa, Risaralda, Colombia; aunt Adriana Contreras of Miramar, FL; nineteen cousins living around the world; and his nephew Benjamin.

A gathering of family & friends in memory of Daniel will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Memory Gardens Funeral Home 3041 Kirk Road Lake Worth, FL 33461.
