A year later, she was proposed to by a Navy helicopter mechanic who had just been honorably discharged from active service. After a three-month courtship, She married Irvin, the love of her life, and after the wedding, the couple moved to West Palm Beach in 1962. While her husband began his apprenticeship in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Dora began working at G. C. On January 11, 1962, Dora and her husband committed their lives to their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and soon became members of Barton Road Baptist Church in Lantana, where they would worship, serve, and raise their family. In 1970, they adopted their first son, Jimmy, and seven years later, Dora discovered she was pregnant with twins. In 1977, she welcomed Stephen and Stephanie to their family.
