Elizabeth J. Carter (Betty), age 96, passed away December 31, 2021, after a long illness. Born April 14, 1925 in Toronto Canada, she became a US Citizen March 7, 1957. She married the love of her life, William “Lee” Carter July 20, 1947 and moved to Lake Worth Florida where they raised a loving family of 4 children (Bill, Ray, Mary and Mike).
She often spoke of her younger years in Canada as an ice skater and attending college to become an RN. Being a nurturing and loving mother and grandmother was her passion. She loved nature and enjoyed her retirement with Lee, fishing and boating on Lake Okeechobee.
Surviving family members include her sons, Ray (Iliana) and Mike Carter; grandchildren Joe, Cheresa, Heather (Dillon), Melissa, Michelle, Katie and Isabella; great grandchildren Destiny Leilani, Dana and Jackson; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Lee; her siblings Margaret and Walter; her son Bill and daughter Mary.
A private ceremony celebrating her life will be held Friday, January 7, 2022 at Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Funeral Home and she will be laid-to-rest at Lake Worth Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, give generously to your charity of choice as she did throughout her life.
