Elliott Franklin passed away in Hospice care at Good Samaritan Hospital, the evening of 15 April, 2025, with his immediate family by his side. Predeceased by his parents, Leo and Adele Franklin, both of West Palm Beach, Elliott was born 22 May, 1940, in Manhattan, raised in Hollis Hills, Queens, New York City. He graduated from Martin Van Buren High School in Queens Village, and New York University, earning a B. S. in Accounting, 1961.
Relocating from Connecticut with his family to join his father in a business venture, Elliott was a resident of Palm Beach County, since 1976, when he and his father, Leo Franklin, established an accounting service for small businesses in Lake Worth, Florida. The business thrived with the area’s growth.
Active in his community, Elliott sat on the board of the Cities of Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce, as well as being active in the Pride Business Alliance. For three decades Elliott processed tax exemptions gratis for his neighborhood association in the historic Old Northwood district, and served as Steering Committee Treasurer for eight years. Having lived in the historic district for more than thirty six years, Elliott volunteered for numerous Old Northwood functions, including the annual tour of homes and mayor’s progressive dinner.
He was an avid traveler whose wanderlust led him across our own continent, including Alaska, Mexico and the Maritime Provinces, plus destinations in South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, as far afield as Patagonia, Bhutan, Scandinavia, Lesotho, and Ecuador’s Volcano Alley. He made a minimum of one annual sojourn, enjoying research and preparation for each trip, which were best shared with friends afoot.
Elliott is survived by his husband, Neil Comerford, of West Palm Beach, daughters Susan Werth and Andrea Wainer, both of Chicago, and their families, and brother Larry Franklin, and family, in Stuart, Florida.
A ceremony is planned Monday, 2 June, 3:00 p.m., with Dorsey E. Earl Smith Memory Gardens, Kirk Road, Lake Worth. Following the ceremony, there will be an at-home celebration for Elliott.
