It is with overwhelming sadness that the family of Grace Potente (nee Vitale) announces her passing after a brief illness, on Monday, September 3, 2018. She was 89 years old. Grace will be remembered lovingly by her daughters, Ave Maria Potente and Coretta Murray; her grandsons, Joshua Murray, Justin Murray, and Stephen Moore; and her great granddaughter, Aiyana Grace Murray. Grace was predeceased by her devoted husband Joseph and her beloved son Joseph. She will be sorely missed by her only surviving brother, Pat Vitale, and her son-in-law, Craig Howard.
A native of New Jersey, Grace worked for Chase National Bank on Wall Street in New York. Later she became a legal secretary, and in 1952 she married and became a homemaker. She and her husband Joseph moved from New Jersey to Florida in 1975 and stayed. Grace worked for several banks in the area and became a mortgage loan processer before finally retiring to enjoy being with her grandsons. Always a talented crafter, Grace crocheted beautiful bedspreads and crib blankets, which she generously gave to expectant mothers. Her legacy is her loving and devoted family.
A Funeral Service in memory of Grace will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., at the Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL 33461. Interment will follow in the Lake Worth Memory Gardens. Those who so desire may make donations in memory of Grace to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, her favorite charity.
