Jane C. Poole

Born in Long Branch, NJ, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James S. Cattanach Sr. She graduated from Long Branch (NJ) High School, Class of 1941, and attended Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

In World War II, she enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served as a SPAR in Florida, Boston, and San Francisco. From there she was stationed in Hilo, Hawaii and Honoloulu, Oahu for a year and a half before the war ended.

Mrs. Poole was active in the PTA and was past chairman of the Evening Department of The Long Branch Women’s Club. She was a member of the American Legion Florida; Women’s Club of Long Branch, NJ (57 years) where she received a 50 year certificate from the state of New Jersey; General Federation of Women’s Clubs. She was a charter member of Women in Military Service for America Memorial. She was a past member of the Women’s Metropolitan Golf Association; Deal Golf and Country Club in Deal, NJ; Atlantis Golf Club in Atlantis, FL; St. Michael’s Catholic Church in West End, NJ; and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lantana, FL.

She was Vice President and owner of Jersey Shore Travel in Oakhurst, NJ for 23 years until it was sold in 1994. She and Mr. Poole were active members in many travel industry organizations including ASTA and ARTA. They took golf groups to many parts of the world. She was also a Scotsmaster graduating in the Signet Library, Edinburgh, Scotland.

She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Peter F. Poole, 1998, and Philip D. Poole, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Frank A. Poole. She is survived by three sons: F. Mark Poole (Linda), Boynton Beach, FL; Michael Craig Poole (Cindy), Freehold, NJ; and Vincent H. Poole, Atlantis FL. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Kathryn E. Poole, Boynton Beach, FL; three grandsons: Bryan M. Poole, Phoenix, AZ; John F. Poole and Shawn M. Poole, both of Freehold, NJ. She is also survived by a brother, James S. Cattanach Jr., Long Branch, NJ.

Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, Long Branch, NJ is in charge of arrangements. Mass to be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, West End, NJ, with burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch, NJ.
