Age 82 of West Palm Beach, FL passed away peacefully from this mortal existence after a five year battle with cancer on Thursday evening, November 21, 2013. In her last days her rescued dog Chip stood constant guard at her side along with her volunteer “caregiver” Pauletta Silvers who gave her total dedication. She was preceeded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles Harvey “Farby” Teal and her beloved dog Patches. Although she was proud of her birthplace of Eatonton, Georgia, she has resided in the same house in West Palm Beach since 1961. She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches, but also found great comfort and comradery from her TAG group that are remaining members from Wagg Memorial Methodist Church. She had very caring neighbors, especially Daniel and Nellie who were more than just neighbors and even more than just friends. Another in this category is Marlie, her housekeeper of many years. Laurel has been a great friend and traveling companion for cultural events they enjoyed together but especially their delightful conversations. Although Jane Teal greatly enjoyed the solitude of sitting on her back porch by the pool and watching the birds and squirrels while reading and doing puzzles, it is obvious she had a great impact on the lives of others including her medical providers (physicians, nurses and home care providers and Hospice). Her impact on others was also felt in her many years teaching at Lake Worth Middle School.
She is survived by her son Craig Teal (wife, Brenda Elaine); grandchildren, Ashley Crews (husband, Mike), Marshall Teal (Liz Darling) and Brian Teal (wife, Lovia); great grandchildren, Samantha and Sylvia. She is also survived by her brother, Richard McAllister (wife, Jewell); niece, Ginger McCall (husband, Jim) and other nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit from 5:00 – 8:00pm on Monday, November 25, 2013 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Tuesday. Interment will follow at 10:45am at the South FL VA National Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL.
