

Jimmy Compton passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the age of 92. A native of West Palm Beach, FL, Jimmy had an incredible life filled with many accomplishments. As a young man, he served as a Lieutenant for the City of West Palm Beach Fire Department while starting his refrigeration business, Mr. Ice Machines Co. in 1960. He continued to work and grow his business throughout the years and stayed on as CEO until his death. Jimmy was a member of numerous organizations including Elks Lodge #1352 WPB, Palm Beach National Country Club, Everglades Youth Conservation Camp, Palm Beach County Air Boat & Halftrack Assoc., Florida Fish & Wildlife and Friends of Corbett as well as served on the board of many of these organizations. He had many interests over the years, from being a Little League Baseball Coach to an avid golfer. But his true love was hunting and fishing, which he did regularly at the hunting camp he built, Big Mound Lodge, in JW Corbett. Jimmy will be forever remembered by his four children; Crystal Bledsoe, Stephen Compton, Cheryl Johnson, and Melissa Hinson (Bobbie) as well as Jackie Lawson, who he was guardian of as a child. He will also be fondly remembered by his 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by his mother, father, wife and two brothers. In his 92 years he has touched the lives of many, young and old. His friends and family will forever cherish all the wonderful memories made with him over the years.
A graveside prayer service for family and friends will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Lake Worth Memory Gardens, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL 33461.
