

Age 96, of Loxahatchee, FL passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at her home with lovedones present. She was born in Lamar County,Alabama in 1927, to Murphy and Bertie Lou Kirkleywho often referred to her as “Texie.” Lue had a long and wonderful life, but it wasn’t without hardship. She relied on her personal relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ daily for strength and guidance.
She was a member of Acts II Worship Center Church in Loxahatchee where she was an active member hosting many Bible studies and often shared her gifts of crafting and baking. She was known for making a mean chocolate cake and for her delicious home-made biscuits and gravy!
Lue was preceded in death by her seven younger siblings, her husband, Charles E. Cook, and her daughter, Charlene Cook-Barnes. She is survived by her sons Terry Cook, Joe (Sue) Cook, and Rick (Stacy) Cook. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. Family was very important to Lue and she was known for hosting the entire family for Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, even up to the week before her death.
She will be celebrated at the Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Memory Gardens Funeral Home at 3041 Kirk Road,Lake Worth, FL 33461 on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow graveside at Lake Worth Memory Gardens. The family will gather in private at 10:00 a.m.
