I was just thinking about Mr. Horgan today and went to look him up. I wanted to tell him how important he was to me in 10th grade. He taught the Biology/Zoology block and hooked me up with a local herpetologist to help me explore my interests. He helped me preserve skeletons that I collected from the surrounding wild places. He didn’t let me slack and held me accountable and even made an example out of me once in class when I was out of line. He inspired me and encouraged me and left a lasting impression on me. He was my favorite teacher.

Thinking about you Mike. After reading these great tributes it's hard to add to it . I wish I had a tenth of your courage

Micheal Horgan was my 10th grade teacher at Miami Southridge not just a teacher but a good friend. I have tried to look him up a few times do to thinking about him a lot in my life and I am very saddened right now finding this out. I still have a alligator skull displayed in my house that he made for me. Sure do wish I could see and talk to him again. I do have a good pic in my head of him from the last time we were together at the fruit and spice park in the Redlands. He definitely will be missed by not just me but by all he touched

Mr. Horgan was one of my all time favorite teachers. I had him for Biology teacher in my 10th grade year at Miami Southridge. He was an amazing teacher and really made Biology come to life. I used to visit him  even in my 11th grade year. I looked forward to his class every day. I am saddened that future students will not know him. He has left a lasting impression on me I am glad that I got to know him.

Coach Mike Was An Amazing Person In My Life. I Don't Know What I Would Have Done With My Life Without Him.He was Always There For Everone. He Was Truly A Huge Insperation To Everyone That Knew Him. He Is Missed Dearly. <3

I remember Mike and his brothers when they lived in Bangkok Thailand.  We all swam for the Bangkok Aquatic Club.  My sympathy to his family.

I was thinking recently about Mr. Horgan as I had him for biology when he taught at Southridge...and was very sad to hear of his loss. My thoughts are with his family.

Mr. Horgan was the biology teacher to 3 of my sons while attending Dwyer HS.  All three have stated that he was one of the best teachers they have ever had.  He had a way of transfering knowledge to his students that was fun and effective.  I feel blessed that they had the priveledge of his far reaching influence.  It is always sad when such an inspiration is taken from us.  My deepest sympathy to his family.

A man that will be missed greatly. A friend who gave so much guidance and support to all who had the honor to know him. Thank you, Coach Mike. You will never be forgotten.

Coach Mike unselfishly gave because he always saw the potential of goodness in all of us.   We are all better individuals because we had the privilege to witness Mike’s unconditional caring to others.

Mr. Horgan was the most amazing and wonderful teacher I ever got the chance to have and know! He opened my eyes, and mind to the things I want to pursue in my future! I will never forget the day he gave me the Marine Bio Honors award. It was the proudest day of my life, and I owe it all to him!

I met Mike before I met his wife Jennifer as a co-teacher.  He made you feel like you knew him your whole life.  I had the pleasure of teaching with Jennifer for many years and got to know about Mike from the amount of time Jennifer and I spent together when she drove me to school and helped me when my daughter was born. Jennifer-my deepest sympathy for your loss.

Deepest condolences to the Horgan family, especially Stephen, who was my math student when he was in middle school. I never met Mr. Horgan, but he must have been as amazing as everyone says to have raised such a fine son!

Coach Mike was a gift to everyone he came into contact with.  Whether as a swim coach or as a teacher, Mike taught kids discipline and the need to strive to be their best, not THE best.  He understood the gift of life.
With all of that "on his plate," his greatest pride was his family.  To them, we wish only the greatest of pride and memories.

Mike was the most amazing swim coach, he will be missed by hundreds of people.

Mr. Horgan was one of the greatest teachers I have ever had. He always made super corny jokes, but he was really funny at the same time. His classes were always informative and fun, and the labs we did taught me a lot. He was one of my absolute favorite teachers, and always waved whenever I saw him around the school. He's the teacher that inspired me to want to become a microbiologist when I go off to college. It's not going to be the same this year not to see him in the hallways making goofy jokes and making kids smile. He was a walking miracle, and an inspiration to many. He was one of the strongest people I knew, and I could never imagine what he went through throughout his life living with Cystic Fibrosis. It never showed that he had a life threatening illness, because he always enjoyed life and enjoyed teaching students science. We're going to miss you Mr. Horgan. May you rest in peace. <3

We knew Mike for many years and treasured his friendship. Our prayers and thoughts are with his family.

I have known Mike since he was in High School. He was a great teacher, a great coach and a great man. I will miss seeing him at swim meets and talking how we wished we were fishing.

Mr. Horgan was my Biology teacher and my favorite science teacher since I've entered high school. Its very sad to hear about his death but my prayers are with the family.

My husband Trent was a friend to Mike I remember him very well...he was a great person. He will be truly missed by all who love him...so sorry for you loss to his family and friends....and students.

Mr. Horgan was once a teacher of mine. I can say he definately left his mark in each one of us he taught and that will go on forever. My thoughts are with his family at this time. To his son: You are embarking on a new journey with your first semester in college, I hope you know your father will always be looking down on you and will always be proud of you.
