

Mickey graduated from Wilmington High School in 1960 and was inducted into the Clinton County sports hall of fame in 2008 after a record breaking football career. He went on to attend Ohio State University and Tennessee Tech on football scholarships. He played professionally for one season with the Daytona Beach Thunderbirds. After relocating to South Florida Mickey went to work with FPL where he spent most of his career as both a linemen and superintendent. He enjoyed his time in Belle Glade with FPL and the relationships he formed throughout the company and community. He always held a passion for football and was a devoted fan of both the Miami Hurricanes and Ohio State University. He enjoyed raising and riding horses as well as spending time in the mountains of North Carolina. He will be greatly missed but will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Mickey is survived by his wife, Carole Vanscoy; his sister Patricia Berrie Vanscoy Winslow; his sons Travis Vanscoy, Tobin Vanscoy; daughters Ashley Schutt, Deneen Elizabeth Vanscoy Bohne and Lisa Lynn Vanscoy. Grandchildren; Mia Vanscoy, Justin Vanscoy, Tobin Vanscoy Jr., Danielle Kyley Rigoleth, Shelby Schutt, Sawyer Schutt, Destrey Davidson-Romiti, Betsy Lynn Burke, Molly Ann Petrini.
