Phyllis was born in Patterson, New Jersey on September 14, 1932. She grew up an only child and was adored by her father Nicholas, mother Christine, and a large extended family. As a child, she enjoyed spending summers at the family beach house on Long Beach, New York.
Phyllis was a talented high school majorette and attended the Barbizon School of Modeling in New York City with her best friend Lucretia. After high school, she became a professional secretary, and took great pride in her accounting skills and proficiency in “short-hand.”
Soon she would marry, for the first and only time, Robert DeLizza Sr., then a salesman. They would eventually move to Hollywood Fl. in the mid 60’s to raise their 2 boys and add a daughter.
Settling into her new life as a homemaker, Phyllis would also play a key role in the launch of the DeLizza family business, a Sales Representative firm, started by her husband soon after arriving in The Sunshine State. She did the books, and banking, and brought much-needed organization. It’s a business that her two sons continue to operate to this day.
Phyllis is survived by her three children, Robert, Richard (and wife Tracy), and Linda (and fiancé James). Robert and his wife Joanne also blessed her with a grandson, Christopher.
Phyllis would eventually divorce in the mid-’80s and move to Greenacres in Palm Beach County. It was during this time period she began working at Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition and became active in her church, and community HOA. She also found time to immerse herself in various charitable concerns.
Phyllis’s loving nature and her indefatigable sense of positivity lifted the spirits of everyone around her and her beaming smile would light up a room. She was the compass that always pointed to what was good, kind, and right. She will be missed by all that knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her name be made to Hope for Paws (https://www.hopeforpaws.org/donate) or Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies (https://www.hmhbpbc.org/donate)
