Violet Clarina Henry, a beloved and cherished individual, passed away on January 2, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on October 24, 1936, in St. Andrews, Barbados WI, Violet was a compassionate and devoted woman who made a significant impact on everyone she encountered. Residing in Wellington, Florida, Violet was known for her generous, hard-working, and inspirational nature.
Violet's early life was marked by her dedication to nursing. She traveled to England to pursue her nursing education and continued her studies, earning many degrees from prestigious institutions such as NYU, St. Francis College, and Long Island University. Her career as a nurse in New York included roles as a charge nurse and work in various departments such as the Emergency Room, ICU, Admin, Neonatal Hospice, and with AIDS/HIV patients. In 2000, she was honored with the Nurse of the Year Award for the State of Florida for her exemplary work with HIV/AIDS patients.
Violet was married to Baldwin L. Henry for 65 years, and together they raised two children, Deirdre B.L. Henry and David L. Henry. She was a proud grandmother to Jerrel Henry, Jordan Henry, Da'niqua Henry Scott, Kriston Lynch, Jade Thomas, David L. Henry Jr, and Elijah Henry, as well as a great-grandmother to Luke Scott, Cole Scott, Zion Henry, and Indy Scott.
In her retirement, Violet enjoyed traveling the world, completing three global journeys, and indulging in cruises and family time. Her personal interests included gardening, traveling, knitting, and writing poems. She was deeply involved in her community, assisting the homeless in soup kitchens and actively participating in St. David in the Pines Church as a daughter of the King (DOK).
Violet was a loyal and resilient figure who believed in the power of higher education and lived by the motto, "Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you." Her wisdom and faithfulness left a lasting legacy, and she was loved, respected, and admired by all who knew her.
The family expresses gratitude to Pacifica Memory Care and Hospice for their support. Violet will be deeply missed, but we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her soul-mate and one true love, her husband, Baldwin Henry.
