

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Selvey and Bishop J. Scott Barker officiating. Burial will follow at Bayard Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Bayard following the services at the cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 1-6 p.m. at Bayard Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be given to St. Francis Episcopal Church. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.bbchapels.com.
Dottie was born on October 11, 1929, in Burlington, Colorado to Mr. and Mrs. John Auterson. She started her school years (kindergarten and 1st grade) in Buffalo Flats, Colorado. After her parents moved to Ainsworth, Nebraska, Dottie attended 2nd-10th grade. She was adopted after her mother passed away by Blanche and Dewey Wheeler in 1941. She attended her junior and senior years in Longpine, Nebraska where she graduated in 1948.
After graduation, Dottie moved to Wahoo, Nebraska and worked there in a telephone office.
Dottie met the love of her life, Elmer Wolfe and they were married on August 8, 1954. They honeymooned in Rushville and then it was off to work they went.
Dottie and Elmer moved to Oshkosh in 1958. Elmer worked for the County and Dottie worked for a Lumber Yard and Midwick. In 1960, they were blessed with a little baby girl, Theresa Ann.
Dottie and Elmer moved to Bayard in 1968, where Elmer pumped gravel and Dottie ran Dottie’s Liquor.
Dottie was a compassionate caregiver and a selfless and giving person.
She was very active in the Episcopal Church: St. Margarets in Bayard, St. Elizabeth in Bridgeport and St. Pauls in Oshkosh. She was an ordained Deacon for 14 years, and was active in the Ministerial Association.
Dottie loved her family, friends and animals. She also enjoyed her hobby, which was art. Dottie was a good artist, and won more that one honorable mention at shows over the years.
She was a dedicated prayer warrior, and a significant member of her prayer group for over 40 years.
Survivors include her husband Elmer; daughter Theresa (John) Peonio; grandson Travis (Cassandra) Peonio and great grandchildren Geovanni and Sophia and granddaughter Johnnie Peonio; brother Daniel Wheeler; special niece Sheila Roberts; several nieces and nephews and sister and brother-in-law Wanda and Ray Herrington.
She was preceded in death by her adopted parents and brother James Hilderbrand.
