Christie was a proud activist and a proud Mennonite, who fought strongly against guns, violence, and, in her most recent time fighting for justice, organized peaceful anti-Trump corruption protests for her Colorado community. She was someone who did not believe in violence and had even gone back to school to become a Peaceful Mediator. Before her passing, she had completed her first semester.
She leaves behind not only a strong community who shares her values and respects her leadership and legacy, but her dear family and friends as well. She will be deeply missed by her daughters Jennifer and Holly, her sister Pat, nieces Julie and Jenny, nephews Tom and Wayne, and her most precious fur-babies, Scooby and Magpie.
Christie in Preceded in death by her parents, the father to her children, her son and daughter, and her beloved husband, John Burton - who she will be joining in rest at Mount Lindo Cemetery - where her ashes will be spread and given back to the Earth.
Christie, as you so inspired us to give a voice to the voiceless, we will continue to be your voice - sharing your legacy and wisdom with the world.
