Born on January 25, 1941, in Callaway, Nebraska, Henri was the youngest of Henry and Margaret Linenbrink’s thirteen children.
She weighed less than 4 pounds at birth and grew into a smart, petite and independent woman.
She passed away in Denver, CO on March 7, 2025, at the age of 84.
Her Elementary education was in a one room country schoolhouse. She and eight of her siblings went to school in a cart pulled by a team of horses. Lots of exciting and dangerous rides !
Henri attended St. Agnes Academy in Alliance, Nebraska and graduated from high school in 1958. She attended St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth, Kansas for two years before entering the Sisters of Charity community. After spending eight years as a Sister of Charity, she and her two best friends, Rosemarie and Annette, left religious life and ventured to Denver.
Henri began teaching school and attending Regis University where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She continued her education at University of Northern Colorado earning her Master’s degree in education.
She was a dedicated and energetic educator and administrator in the Catholic school system for her entire career – except for taking a short time away to open a women’s clothing boutique, “Henri’s” in downtown Golden. She did not stay away from education very long and made the decision to return to elementary students and her fellow educators. Henri retired from her role as principal of St. Bernadette Catholic school in 2005 and enjoyed spending her newfound free time taking long walks in her Golden neighborhood and spending time with family and friends. During the holidays, she enjoyed sharing her signature dishes that included sweet potato casserole and her silky smooth fudge !
Henri was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Margaret, and nine siblings.
Four sisters; Mary Snyder, Sister Cecilia Linenbrink, Jo Marshall and Kate Linenbrink.
Five brothers; John, Vince, Bill, Nick and Jim Linenbrink.
Survived by three sisters; Sister Joan Linenbrink (Alliance, NE), Clara Linenbrink (Gering, NE) and Verna Stasch (Westminster, CO ), numerous nieces and nephews, and her dearest friend of 65 years, Annette Adlfinger and family.
