Juanita (Nita) Ulibarri, age 90, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in Thornton, Colorado. Born on March 23, 1935, in Walsenburg, Colorado, to Lucia and Avelino Valdez, Nita lived a life full of joy, resilience, and unwavering love.
Nita had a remarkable way of lighting up every space she walked into. Her laughter rang out like music, her spirit was full of life, and her kindness knew no bounds. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed, cherished, and uplifted — always seeing the best in people and inspiring those around her to live with joy, love, and appreciation for each moment.
She was a force of love and light, the kind of person who made life more colorful just by being in it. Whether she was dancing in the kitchen, sharing stories from her past, or simply holding your hand during hard times, Nita’s presence was a gift to everyone who knew her.
Nita was preceded in death by her beloved son Chuck Ulibarri, her life partner John Candelaria; and many cherished siblings, family members, and friends who no doubt welcomed her with open arms.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughter Sherry Wolf; her grandchildren Gabriel Martinez (Tina), Chad Madrid, Veronica Rodriguez (Jesse), Rachael Brito (Odette), Chrystyne Ulibarri, and Bree-Anna Ulibarri; as well as her many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will carry her spirit forward.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to all who offered care, kindness, and support during Nita’s final journey. Your compassion meant the world to her and to us.
As Nita wished, her life will be honored with a celebration filled with laughter, stories, and music — just the way she would have wanted. Please join us for her Celebration of Life: Sunday, April 13, 2025 Anytime between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM 1882 E 104th Ave, Building 5, Unit 522 Thornton, CO 80233
