Pete Alvarado

Pete was a loving and caring father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a hard worker and a great provider. He had so much wisdom and knowledge and loved to share and teach anyone and everyone willing to learn about life, lessons, fishing, hunting, cooking, any and all his interest and life growing up. His dream was to have his own business in construction and he succeeded. He took pride in everything he did. It had to be perfect. The word (lazy) was never in his vocabulary. He learned things on his own since he was small. He never had the schooling he wished he could have had. He taught me that if you put your mind to something and you really try with all you got - then there is nothing you cannot do in life. His beliefs will be cherished and instilled forever. He was a very honest man. He spoke his truth and sometimes it was blunt and hard to hear. But he would say what he felt and be there for you if he saw you trying. He would always be there to help anyone in anyway. He was a very independent man until till his last days of life. Strong and brave.

He loved hunting and fishing. He lived for that. That was a great memory for all of us since we were small. We knew in the summer on the weekends where we would be. Those were great times. Arlene remembers when she caught to many fish one time they went and he and an uncle got fined. I guess that is that happens when you teach someone how to be a great fisherman lol. I enjoyed when I went hunting one year and we went up where he was. It was a special bond to be with him there. He made breakfast and coffee and then sitting on the hills just listening to the excitement of teaching me things and telling me the story of his years hunting. He was like a tourist guide. He has taken so many people to different lakes, hunting areas. He would meet someone and if they had never been or wanted to go - he would be the first to take them. He met so many people up in those hills.

Another passion was his cooking. He loved to cook. He loved making chile. My brothers memory with a smile along with a lot of us to confirm is when he made his chile, his favorite words were: "Try it, it isn't HOT" but man did he laugh after those words. He could eat chile like babies eat candy. There was not such a thing as being HOT. He loved barbeques, his beans were as good as moms. This man loved his steaks. He never wanted to see anyone go hungry. He would always enjoy cooking and feeding everyone. He would mix his own spices with a little of this and a little of that and then some of this to give it a kick.

Another passion was the hill. Yup - if he wasn't home, he and Eileen would be up in Central City or Blackhawk. That was their second home. I know the Casinos are going to miss him. He was a fixture in the casinos. They would lose all track of time. It is funny because he always wanted to go to church on Sundays. He and Eileen would be there, even if he was asleep during the services. But if it they were in the hills they wouldn't remember church lol. They would do their praying up there and he would never fall asleep. That was their weekend thing, (sometimes weekday) plus going to take mom flowers. All these times will greatly be missed and always treasured.

I, Patsy, will cherish all the times with him. The good and the bad. He was a big part of my life. I have a huge empty space now, but he knew how much I loved him. I would like to say I learned a great deal. I am grateful for him. I give thanks for all the years I was blessed with him. He was a man of all talents but one thing I will miss is his joking. That man would come up with some crazy, funny jokes. He would be serious telling you about something and at the end it would be a joke. I think the most gullible was Diana. He got her every time, it was funny. I never told her he had made a fool of me before her. He would just make jokes at the spur of the moment. I just would like to ask everyone to cherish everything you shared with him.

There are so many stories, memories that so many people have through all his life. His neighbors, his longtime friends of many years. The last of the clan like Tio Ruben. All his hunting partners, fishing partners, poker playing partners, his workers. his grandchildren, great grandchildren that he shared and taught so many things to. All other relatives here and gone. He was a well know man and much respected. We can go on and on and on. He will be greatly missed by many. Enjoy all the memories that you have. If you would like to share, please do. We would like to say thank you to all and know we are sorry that at this time, we cannot gather as we want to due to the Corona virus. Too many restrictions. We are grateful for everyone and we thank you all for being part of Pete’s life.

Pete will be laid to rest at Mt Olivet Cemetery on May 15, 2020.

A mass and proper gathering will be held for Pete in the near future, we will keep you posted.
