
Carmela “Carm” Melillo, affectionately known as Gran-Carm and Aunt Millie, passed away on February 5th, 2026. After courageously surviving cancer19 years ago, she faced a recent cancer battle with the same strength and grace that defined her life. Carmella was surrounded by love in her final moments at home, comforted by her devoted husband and high school sweetheart Victor Melillo, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage and her beloved son, Vic Melillo.
Born in Newark, NJ, Carmella moved to Ocean County in 1972. She began her career as a teacher in Newark and later became a business owner alongside her husband and son. Carmella lived a full and vibrant life—working hard, traveling often, and eventually enjoying quieter years on her own terms. She was a woman of unwavering faith, known for her intelligence, honesty, and insightful advice.
Carmella is survived by her husband Victor, son Victor and daughter-in-law Diana, sister Lisa, and grandchildren Ryan and Jaedyn. She also leaves behind many beloved brother-sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
In accordance with Carmela’s wishes, the family held a private, intimate service.
