
Charlie was born on September 12, 1929, to Charles B. and Mildred (Zicardi) Kurtz in Bronx, NY. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosalie M. Kurtz, and brother Raymond Kurtz.
Charlie and Rose raised their children in Colonia, NJ before retiring to Toms River. Surviving Charlie are his four children: Steven (Debbie) Kurtz of Elizabethtown, PA; Robert (Doreen) Kurtz of Atlantic Highlands; Bruce Kurtz of Toms River; Barbara (Donley) Kuendel of Millsboro, DE; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. Charlie has a distinguished career in the construction industry working for Gallo Asphalt for many years before starting his own paving business, Conro Contracting Corp.
Charlie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a special man with a big heart who loved to be with his family, always upbeat and supportive. He had an infectious laugh and enjoyed boating and fishing with the family, skiing, golfing, and hunting over the years. He will forever be remembered endearingly in our hearts.
The family is deeply grateful to the nurses and doctors at Ocean Medical Critical Care for their compassionate care of Charlie during his last days.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Entombment will be at Saint Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project.
