Chester W. Burns

Chester William Burns, age 90, of Whiting, NJ passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin, NJ. Chester was born May 9, 1931 in Yonkers, New York. Chet was a longtime resident of Lakewood, NJ. He later spent time in Ormond Beach, FL, before moving to Whiting in 2005. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. Chet was a fan of the NY Yankees and NY Jets. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Husband of the late Elizabeth Ann Burns, ("Betty" formerly Comito), Chester is survived by his three daughters, Cynthia Burns, Kathy Bull (Brendan), and Laurie Manzi-Burns; three sons Steven M. Burns (Jackie); David J. Burns, and Jeffrey Burns (Cheryl); his grandchildren Rashon Burns (Anna), Lester Morris (Christine), Jared Morris, Steven Burns, Jr., Tim Bull (Christa) and Kristin Vega (Eric), Louie Manzi, Aidan and Fiona Burns, and Ryan Burns; and nine great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:a.m. at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. Catholic Prayers will be offered at 10:30 a.m. during the visiting hours. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Guadalupe-St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, 1 Honey Locust Drive, Lakewood, NJ 08701.
