Donald F. Peters

Donald F. Peters, 82, passed away July 26, 2016 at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune. Mr. Peters was born and raised in Newark, NJ before moving to Kearny and Cranford and finally settling in Lakewood for the past 15 years. Donald served in the US Army and worked for LPM in Linden for many years in industrial sales. Mr. Peters was a very active member of St. Helen’s Church in Westfield where he served as a Eucharistic minister. Donald was a man of deep faith and active for many years serving those ill and with disabilities. He was an avid sports fan of the Giants and Yankees, and enjoyed decades of the Big East basketball tournament. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and will be greatly missed by all. Mr. Peters is predeceased by his son, Steven Peters, brother William Peters and brothers-in-law, Justin Risch, Bill Loughnane, Sean Cassidy and Bob McCrossan. Donald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret, sons, Richard Peters and his wife Cecilia and Gregory Peters and his wife Jodi, his loving grandchildren, Megan, Christopher, Ethan, Sabina and Benjamin, siblings, Robert Peters and his wife Ann and Marlene Risch, many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law of the Loughnane, McCrossan, Pallitto and Cassidy families. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 4-8 pm at the D’Elia Funeral Home 1300 Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 9:15AM at the St. Luke’s Church in Toms River. Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ at 12:15PM.
