Gabriel Rosado (69) peacefully took his final breath on Sunday May 5th 2024. Gabe’s 1st breath however was anything but that as he arrived into this world with the loud roar we all know him to have on Friday March 18th 1955, born to Irene Cartagena & Tomas Rosado. Gabe was born in Salinas, Puerto Rico. He moved to Farmingdale, NJ shortly after birth where he grew up before moving to Lakewood, NJ. He attended and graduated Lakewood High School class of ‘75 where he met a host of his closest friends; the late Martin Mojica, and the late Jimmy Coefield, Gabe would say they were thick as thieves. Gabe was well known for having the biggest afro in town and would have blowout contests with other afro heads and as you can see even in passing he still kept a full head of hair. Later Martin and Gabe landed jobs waiting tables and hosting at Woodlake Country Club where they honed their smooth talk, and refined etiquette. Gabe would joke about looking the part and acting the part, act like you know what you're doing and nobody will ask a question, and if you saw him out in his suit, gator shoes, and gold jewelry there was no mistaking he looked the part. Gabe could turn a no entry situation into a VIP access, like the time Gabe, Jimmy, Martin and the girls walked into a packed club using the side door. They had the girls wait right in the center of the room as he walked to the back to wheel a table while Jimmy and Martin followed in tow with some chairs with nobody blinking an eye. If you were building or remodeling a house in the 1990s then there was a good chance you heard Gabe’s voice bellowing through the yard of Di’Naso and Son’s building supply. He loved working for Di’Naso’s he was in the center of town where he could see and catch up with old classmates and cut up with contractors he knew. In his retirement years Gabe had a host of gigs, none being more present than his private car service, he also had a green thumb and loved the little rain forest he created in his home full of elephant ears, snake plants, hostas, and his cherished giant aloe plant. Gabe was an avid local sports fan Mets, Giants and is surely single handedly willing the Knicks to win these playoffs, and somehow he also was a Patriots fan.
Gabe is predeceased by his mother Irene, brother Florenzio, and sister Margarita.
