Irene Gomez

Irene Gomez, age 69, of Toms River, NJ, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011 at her daughter’s residence in Pt. Pleasant, NJ, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Irene was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. She was a professional Home Health Aid with Health Mates in Lakewood, NJ for over 18 years. Irene was a member of St. Anthony Claret Parish in Lakewood. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and also loved gardening. She is survived by her 3 children, Carmen Neris & her husband Luis, Daisy Sanchez and her significant other Winfield Clarke, and Myrna Sanchez; 2 sisters, Juanita Nieves and Leocadia Gomez; 6 grandchildren, Jose Williams, Irene Diaz-Roach and her husband Andrew Roach, Candis Diaz, Luis Neris & his wife Angela, & Daniel Neris, and Victor DeJesus; 4 great grandchildren; her loving friend and ex-husband Evaristo Sanchez and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the D’Elia Funeral Home, Rte. 70 & Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony Claret Church, 780 Ocean Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. Burial will follow in St. Mary of The Lake Cemetery, Lakewood, NJ.
