

Julia Sheran, age 99, passed away Monday, February 9th, 2026, at home surrounded by love and family. Born April 10th, 1926 in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, Julia was raised on a farm in Pellejas with her many siblings. In the mid 1950s she moved to Jackson, NJ with her two young sons. She met her husband Robert W. Sheran and in 1963 they moved to Toms River with their growing family.
She is predeceased by her husband Robert W. Sheran, her parents Jose del Carmen and Maria D. Figueroa and 8 siblings. Julia is survived by her 6 children, Luis Francisco Martinez of St. Marys, GA, Eddie Martinez of Toms River, NJ, Lois (Harun) Fakioglu of Windermere, FL, John (Debora) Sheran of Toms River, NJ, Barbara (Stephen) McDougall of South Orange, NJ and Joanne (Steve) Nieves of Toms River, NJ. She is also survived by 4 siblings, Carmen Tomassini, Virgin(Garin) Figueroa, Elba Santos, and Luis Antonio Figueroa. She left a legacy of 25 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Julia was deeply devoted to her family and was a devout Catholic. Her generosity, kindness and strength of faith was evident to all who knew her and we are all blessed and better people for her love. We will all miss her dearly.
Julia’s visitation will be held at D’Elia funeral home 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, Wednesday, February 18th, from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm and Thursday February 19th, 9:00am-10:00am. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church, Toms River, 10:30am-11:30am followed by the graveyard service at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood at 11:45am.
