Marty was born in 1941 in Paulsboro, NJ to the late Joseph and Violet Dwulet. He grew up in Lakewood, NJ on the family farm. He attended St. Mary’s Academy and Lakewood High School, where he played basketball, golf, and baseball. After high school, he enlisted in the Army and served in Korea. He attended college at Manatee Community College and The University of Florida.
After school, Marty worked in Manhattan where he met his wife Mary. They spent their first few years as newlyweds living in the city, and then moved to NJ and started their life on the farm. Marty and Mary continued to grow the family farm and added a store and greenhouses. He was passionate about everything to do with farming, often chatting with other farmers, taste-testing fruits and vegetables, and putting anyone and everyone to work on the farm no matter their plans for the day with his famous line, “Jump in the truck, we’re going for a ride!”
Marty was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He and wife Mary were married for over 54 years. He loved spending quality time with their children and grandchildren, whether driving around the farm, going out to breakfast at the Regent Diner where they kept his personal supply of Taylor Ham safe in the cooler, or reading the newspaper and enjoying Kohr’s at the Point Pleasant Inlet.
He loved to golf with friends. He also loved to travel, was spontaneous and always up for an adventure, whether dropping by NYC for a hot dog or flying to Poland to test the pierogis and look up his roots. Marty was predeceased by his son Marty Jr. He is survived by his wife Mary, their seven children, and 18 grandchildren. They include grandson Connor; daughter Ellen Hall (Steve), and grandchildren Brennan, Shawn, Ryan, Colin, and Kate; daughter Theresa Ebinger (Todd), and grandchildren Daniel, Sarah, Megan, and James; daughter MaryBeth Walsh (Thomas), and grandchildren Allie, Jack, and Anna; daughter Katie; son Paul, and grandchildren Joe, Violet, and Rita; daughter Christine Bonds (John), and grandchildren Caroline and Jack; and daughter Laura McKirgan (Mike).
Marty was the oldest of three children. He leaves his siblings, Richard and Barbara, and many nieces and nephews who he was very fond of.
