Rita Lepoldina Andersen

Rita Lepoldina Andersen, age 88, of Lakewood, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015 at the Subacute Meridian at Wall-LTC. Rita was raised in Springfield, moving to New Providence where she raised her family and finally settling in Lakewood for the past 40 years. She is a graduate of the Jonathan Dayton High School in Springfield. Rita worked for the New Providence and Lakewood Board of Education as an Executive Secretary and Purchasing Agent for many years. She also worked for over 30 years for Burger King in Toms River and Brick. Recently she worked for Michael Inzulbuch as a legal secretary. Rita was a communicant of the Our Lady of Peace Church of New Providence and the Visitation Church of Brick. Mrs. Andersen volunteered for many years for the New Providence and Toms River Rescue Squads and the Meridian Audiology in Brick, NJ. She was an avid newspaper reader, animal lover and loved visiting the beach and the Point Pleasant Inlet. Mrs. Andersen is predeceased by her grandson, Jonathan Thompson, brothers, Norbert “Brother” Kuffner and Edwin Kuffner and her beloved dog Skyler. She is survived by her three children, Patricia Thompson of WV, Barbara Cherry and her husband Ken of NJ, and Robert Andersen of NJ, grandchildren, Patrick, Christopher, Joshua, Ross, Neil, Beth and Carissa, great grandchildren, Morgan Lester, Tyler Lester, Addison, Lillian, Samuel, Ava, Peyton, Hudson, Savannah and Quinn and her special friend, Bruce Moore. Cremation will be private.
