

Seymour Gerber, age 94, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Rose Garden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Toms River. He was born and raised in Newark, NJ moving to Maplewood, South Orange, Millburn and finally Toms River. He attended Southside High School in Newark where he was elected the President of his graduating class. After high school he served in the US Army during World War II for three and a half years as a medic and a musician. Seymour was partner for DeLorenzo and Gerber Men’s Clothing in Newark, and Buyer and Manager for Poppy’s Men’s Shop in Elizabeth and Maguire’s Men’s Clothing in Maplewood. He married his high school sweetheart and true soul mate Estelle. He enjoyed playing the saxophone and clarinet. Mr. Gerber was known for his lovable personality and great sense of humor. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all. Mr. Gerber is predeceased by his sister Dinah, two brothers, Harry and Henry and son-in-law John Klinger. Seymour is survived by his loving and devoted wife Estelle who cherished him for 74 years, daughter Heidi Susanne Klinger and grandson Daniel Scott Hanlon. Visitation will be Friday, February 8, 2013 from 10:30AM- 1:00PM at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701. His funeral service will be Friday, February 8, 2013 at 1:00PM at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River, NJ 08755.
