Thomas Carney

Thomas Carney “The Hat”, 68, passed away Thursday November 24th at home after a long illness. Born to Harold and Agnes McKay Carney on July 12, 1943 in the Bronx, NY. Thomas was a meat cutter for Shop Rite for 25 years and Bob’s Meat Market in Lakewood for 10 years. He was a loving husband, devoted father of seven and dedicated grandfather of twenty. He be greatly missed by all.

Thomas is pre-deceased by his parents, and two sisters Jean Mueller & Patricia Washington. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Karen (Grandusky) Carney, his children and their spouses Tom and Christine of Newfield, NJ, Jim of Lakewood, Barbara and Gary Weaver of Whiting, Ed and Jennifer of Manchester, PJ & Lori of Little Egg Harbor ,Peggy & Steve Allaire of Jackson, and Denise of Neptune. Thomas is also survived by his two brothers Joey and his wife Maggie of Hicksville, LI and Billy of Toms River; two sisters Nancy & Denise Carney of Bronx NY. Left to cherish his memory are his loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous friends and family.

Visitation will be held on Monday November 28, 2011 from 4-9 pm at the D’Elia Funeral Home Rt. 70 & Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday November 29, 2011 at 10:30AM at St. Mary of the Lake Church 43 Madison Avenue Lakewood, NJ.
