Thomas John Rogers, age 83, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, just days shy of his 84th birthday. A veteran and a fixture of the Toms River community for 55 years, Tom lived a life defined by hard work, family, and his love for the water.
Born in Jersey City on January 17, 1942, Tom’s career was spent navigating the harbor as a Tugboat Captain. He served with distinction for McAllister Brothers and later for New York Waterway, bringing a steady hand to the helm for many years. When he wasn't on the water, Tom found his greatest relaxation at home, spending many happy hours by his pool, reading, and was an enthusiastic sports fan.
Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joyce Rogers, and his son, Michael Rogers.
His legacy lives on through his daughter, Melissa Rodrigues, son-in-law Carlos Rodrigues; his cherished grandchildren, Ava and Noah Rodrigues; his brother, Bill Rogers and sister-in-law Lorraine; his sister, Irene Rogers Post.
Family and friends are welcome to gather for a visitation on Saturday, January 24, from 9:00am-11:00am, with a religious service at 10:30am. Entombment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
