

Lakewood – Virgilio Arroyo died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at home, surrounded by his family. He was 90. Born in Lares, Puerto Rico, he resided in Brooklyn, NY before settling in Lakewood in 1956. Prior to retiring almost 30 years ago, Virgilio worked in construction, having most recently worked for Curbline Construction in Jackson. A parishioner and founder of St. Anthony Claret RC Church in Lakewood, Virgilio was very active in the church. He was a member of the church’s Holy Name Society, acted as a lector during Mass, was a member of the choir, and was also involved in the Cursillistas. Virgilio was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years, Leonarda; his children: Rigoberto, Maria, Virginia, Arcangel Miguel, Carmen Lydia and Elba Sanchez; his grandchildren: Thomas Jose, Andrew Virgilio, Timothy Charles, Christina Leonarda, Tyler Miguel, Arcangel Miguel, Jr., Gabriel Joaquin, Tristan Joel, Olga, Carmen , Belinda, Robert, Wilfredo, Elizabeth , Evelyn , Marisal, Jeannette , Betsy his great-grandchildren: Mia Stella, Jayden Anthony & Noah James, Ebony, Joel, Mitchell, Carina, Ashley, Roberto, Crystal, Manuel, Joseph, Erik, Richard, Isaac, Kadayjah, Carmelo, Joel; a great great granddaughter Aaliyah; and a sister, Angela Lopez. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10AM at St. Anthony Claret RC Church. Friends may call at D’Elia Funeral Home on Sunday from 4-8PM.
