

Brenda Joyce Griffin was born February 26, 1954 in Galveston, Texas to Estelle Gilmore Griffin and the late Billie Griffin, Sr. Joyce, as she was lovingly called by her family, was educated in the public schools of La Marque, Texas and was a 1972 graduate of La Marque High School. She attended College of the Mainland, graduating with an Associate's Degree. At an early age, Joyce accepted Christ and was baptized at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Texas City by Rev. Dr. D. N. Benford, Sr. As a young adult, Joyce united with Randle's Temple Church of God in Christ in Texas City under the pastoral leadership of Dr. Osha Randall, Sr. She served faithfully on the Finance Committee and was a former Sunday School Teacher. Joyce was a Bible Scholar, she loved studying the Word of God and ministering to those she met. Joyce was employed at Walmart for many years. She worked diligently and faithfully as a Customer Service Manager. She loved her job and the people she worked with. Joyce was a person who loved her family. She was EVERYTHING to EVERYBODY in the family. No matter what, we could count on Joyce!! On Christmas Eve 2013, Joyce departed this life to be with the Lord. She is preceded in death by her father, Billie Griffin, Sr. and brother, Donald Griffin. Left to celebrate her life are her mother, Estelle Griffin; her grandmother, Gussie Davis; sisters, Linda Perry, Sandra Marshall and Venyar Davis; brothers, Jerry Griffin, Billie Griffin, Jr. and Kerry Griffin; a niece whom she reared as her daughter, Chloe Kenney; sister-in-law, Berna Griffin; aunts and uncles, Ann Grant, Mary Griffin, Gussie Nealy, Lula B. Davis, James Davis, Jr., Alford Davis and Charles Davis; Godchildren, Kim Anthony, Rodney Dotson and Christine Levige; God-brother, Elvis Levige; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, her Greater Randle's Temple Church Family; her Walmart Family and many dear friends.
