On the 21st of August 1933, in Houma, Louisiana, a beautiful baby girl was born to Alvin and Ruby H. Brown. They named their blessing from the Lord, Dorothy Helen Brown, who was affectionately known as "Dot", that's me. I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior at an early age. When I reached my early teens, my family relocated to Galveston, Texas. I am a proud 1952 graduate of Central High School. Soon after graduation, I moved to La Marque, Texas, where I became a long time resident until the Lord called me home. In 1953, I met and married a young man, Raymond Franklin, Sr. We enjoyed 27 exciting years together until the Lord called him home to rest. To this union, six handsome sons were born. This began my journey as a hard working wife and mother. I was a diligent employee of the La Marque Independent School District. I retired in 1995 after 30 years of service. I enjoyed spending quality time with my family and friends, watching my soap operas, and playing bingo. On January 27, 2012, I just couldn't go on anymore. Jesus whispered my name, telling me it was time to come home. I didn't want to leave my family and friends, but it was time for my journey here to end. When I arrived, it was a glorious occasion. My parents, husband, and brothers, Clarence Brown and James Johnson were waiting for me. My body may be gone, but I want my legacy to live on in the hearts of my loving children, Raymond Jr., Michael (Sue), Donald, Clarence (Marilyn), Alvin (Cheryl), Jerry (Ami), 15 grandchildren, Tamisha Franklin, Kesia Chatman, Makiesha Wright (Jeffrey), Michael Franklin, Jr. (Sherinna), Christopher Franklin, Marcus Alexander, Brandon Williams, Donald Franklin Jr., Deon Franklin, Kellen Franklin, Jalessa Franklin, Jazlyn Franklin, Jasmine Green, LaTara Bingley and Gary Moore, 13 great-grandchildren, Destin Sarpy, Reaghan Joubert, Quevis Wright, Joi Rice, Jordan Rice, Micah Rice, Ke' Asia Burnett, Ja'Corey Williams, Keria Alexander, Kyron Alexander, Kimora Alexander, JaVion Bingley, and Kevin Megress, Jr., sister- in- law Lou Dell Henderson Brown, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. I want you all to know that I am free, Praise the Lord I'm free. I'm no longer bound; no more chains are holding me. My soul is resting; it's just a blessing, praise the Lord. I'm free! Keep holding on to God's hand, I will see you again on the other side. Love Always, "Dot"
