Earnest was educated in the public schools of Palestine. He spent his adolescent and young adult years in Palestine. In the early 1950's, Earnest moved to Galveston County. He later continued his Christian journey and united with Galilee Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Pastor B. J. Hunter after moving to Hitchcock in the early 1970's. He served diligently on the Usher Board of Galilee until his health declined. Earnest was a hard working man and provider for his family. He work experience includes: Union Carbide, Texas City; La Marque Independent School District; and Brown and Root. On December 26, 2014, after a long blessed life, Earnest Harris answered the call of his Heavenly Father and transitioned to his heavenly home. "for a day in thy court is better than a thousand, I had rather be doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness."
