

On May 31, 1949, to Thurman and Florence Houston in Galveston, Texas, a handsome son named Eric Nicholas Houston was born. He attended school in the Texas City School District. Following school he entered and served in the United States Army Corp during the Vietnam War where he was wounded and honorably discharged. Eric was later married to Kathy Jackson and to that union two boys, Eric and Anthony Houston, were born. Eric enjoyed and had many hobbies. Some included fishing, playing baseball, barbecuing good food, loving music and dancing. He was an avid football fan who enjoyed fine clothes, a sleek car and good times with family, friends and his church. His family thought well of his crazy pranks and teasing. His occupational training included welding, construction and he also worked for the City of Houston. While in the Army he was trained as a barber. Eric was baptized at the age of 8 years old at First Baptist Church of Texas City. He later became a member of Willing Workers Baptist Church in Texas City. He departed this life on the evening of November 16, 2015. Preceding him in death were his father, Thurman Houston; his mother, Florence Reed; his grandmother, Myrtle Rice; his uncle, Theodore Rice; and his son, Anthony Houston. The people he leaves to cherish his memories are: his wife, Kathy Houston; children, Eric Houston and Natasha Houston; sisters: Jacqueline Jackson, Claudette Woods, Phyllis Simpson, Ella Houston Washington, Leslie Gonsalves, Livia Brown, Lisa Pierre; a Special Friend, Cheryl Ward; and many other relatives and friends. Services will be held Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Mainland Funeral Home in La Marque with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM followed by services at 11:00 AM. Rev. A. L. Bell will officiate. Burial will be 11:30 AM Monday, November 23, 2015 at Houston National Cemetery.
