

God's image of Johnnie Lee Young, Jr., became flesh on July 27, 1946 in Delhi, Louisiana, when He abundantly blessed the lives of Johnnie Lee Sr. and Bessie Boston Young. He was a handsome baby boy bringing joy to his parents and family. "Sonny", as he was fondly known, was nurtured in a close loving home. While still a young he established his commitment to Christ and received the gift of God's amazing grace through His Son, Jesus Christ. He had a wonderful persona and many admired his Character. He was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School Class of 1965. He was a vital part of the Track Team. The highlight of his high school years was setting the Class A record in the 440 relay team with the time of 42.9 at Prairie View College. Sonny enlisted in the United States Marines, and diligently served his country honorably. His integrity and excellent service earned him various awards of honor. In keeping with the Marines Motto he remained "Always Faithful." Sonny's life displayed that of a loving, dedicated and steadfast husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. On January 2, 2013, Johnnie Lee Young, Jr., changed his dwelling place from earth to Paradise. He is preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents and his sisters, Virginia Dinet and Bertha L. Young Hennix. Loving memories will forever be etched in the hearts of beloved family: his wife, Josephine Semien-Young ; his daughters, Yolanda Young-Hearne, Sonya Young-Gary (Anthony) of Dickinson, Texas, SonJette White (Anthony) of La Marque, Texas and Andrea Young of Hitchcock, Texas; his grandchildren, Jazzlynn Young, Ashylnn Hearne, Joshua Hearne, Shaniquia Manning, Dominique Hill, George Kennerson, Keia Manning, Alaiya Pennington and Jonathan Guidry, II; his great grandchildren, Jayden Hearne, Jaylynn Hearne and Aiden Kennerson; his siblings, Bishop Otis L. Young (Sandra) and Alford P. Young of Texas City, Texas; Florence Samuels, Essie Jewel Skinner (Calvin), Dorothy M. Robertson (Pee Wee), Leola Miles and Debra Alexander all of Texas City, Texas; his brother and sisters-in-law, James E. Semien, Jr. of El Paso, Texas, Nora Semien-Coleman (Lionel) of Houston, Texas and Shirley Barnes (Willie) of Beaumont, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
