

On June 6, 1981 a beautiful baby girl was born to Bonita Allums and Edwin Earl Newsome. They named their blessing from God, Keyonna Roshelle Newsome-Allums. From a young child, Keyonna was destined to bring joy to all who knew and loved her. She accepted Christ at an early age at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized into the body of Christ by Rev. D. N. Benford Sr. As a youth she was active with the Youthful Stars. Keyonna was educated in the public schools of La Marque, Texas and was a graduate of La Marque High School Class of 1999. While in high school, she was active in various activities. After graduation, Keyonna attended Prairie View A& M. She later attended Remmington College and received a diploma in Billing and Coding. Keyonna was a beautiful young woman who enjoyed life. She had her good days and her bad ones too, but God continued to bless her. She had a beautiful spirit and loved the Lord. Her vision was to inspire and empower woman and touch lives. She continued her walk with the Lord and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Texas City under the leadership of Pastor Joel Clay. On Sunday, November 23, 2014, Keyonna was lead by the Spirit to unite with Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston, Texas under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Marcus D. Cosby. "Key" continued to worship the Lord by attending other worship services during the week; and feeding needy families Thanksgiving day. Keyonna was formerly employed with Bayshore Medical Center; and The Mainland Primary Care Physicians in Texas City under Dr. Dorothy Merritt. On December 2, 2014, she was to attend College of the Mainland to pursue her Clinical rotation for nursing. On Thanksgiving morning, she continued to give thanks and praise to God and encourage others. On Thursday evening, November 27, 2014, Keyonna received her heavenly wings and departed this earthly life. She is preceded in death by her grandfathers, Robert Lee Allums, Clint Cartwright; uncles: Walter Newsome Sr., Eddie Lee Elam Sr.; and cousins: RoShon Elam and Peter James Elam III. She leaves her love and memories in the hearts of her devoted parents, Bonita Allums Ellison (Charles) and Edwin Earl Newsome; brother, Dewallace Ellison, Terrance Jackson and Kiochy Tottenham; her grandparents, Ella Mae Cartwright, William Newsome Jr. and Lucille Newsome; aunts: Helen Allums, Mildred Patterson (Billy)(her Godparents), Brenda Allums Preston, Brenda Newsome-Simien, Tera Lee Hoosier (Charlie), Elizabeth Litone Elam and Gertrude Ellison; uncles, Peter James Elam Jr., William Newsome III, Connie Newsome (Eva), Douglas Ray Newsome (Yvonne), Verdell Cartwright (Helen) Lynn Ellison, Jack Ellison (Marcia) and John Terry Ellison; her precious baby "King"; and a host of great-uncles and aunts, cousins, co-workers, classmates and many friends who she encouraged along her life's journey.
