Lenora "Po-baby" Isaac
On June 22, 1938, a baby girl was delivered from heaven to the welcoming arms of Eli and Esther Mae
Johnson, whom they named Lenora. Lenora grew up in Huntsville, TX where she graduated from Sam Houston High School. On March 29, 1959, Lenora married the love of her life, Curtis Isaac, Sr. and moved to Texas City, Texas soon after. During their decades of marriage, they were blessed with two boys (Curtis, Jr. and Steven) and two girls (Linda and Gwendolyn). Curtis and Lenora remained inseparable until the time of his death on January 1 8, 2014.
Lenora dedicated her life to the LORD at an early age and she was unsettled if she was not able to attend church on Sunday. Lenora even wanted to attend church during the pandemic and said she did not care whether she contracted COVID or not as long as she could serve the Lord. Lenora's desire to attend church became even stronger, when after multiple attempts, she was unable to get her tablet to work right so she could hear Bro. Rowe's preaching and take her communion.
Throughout her life, Lenora loved and cared for many people. Her favorite past time was spending time with family, friends, and she enjoyed nothing more than being around her children, grandsons, and great granddaughter. Lenora had a heart of gold and would offer to assist anyone in need. Lenora made herself available to anyone who needed help and she never met a stranger. Lenora's loving spirit drew many people to her throughout her lifetime especially her neighbors. Lenora lived in an era where everyone's kids were everybody's, particularly Dorothy Evans' kids, whom she thought of and treated as her own.
Lenora remained true to her character until the day she went home to be with the Lord. Lenora was a strong, resilient, opinionated, and independent woman who wanted to do things her way or not at all. Even during her final days, Lenora refused help from anyone and continued to cook, wash, and take care of her own needs.
Lenora fought a good fight until she finished her course on August 25, 2021 at which time she answered her Heavenly Father's call to receive her eternal reward. Lenora has gained her wings and is flying high with the Lord. Lenora is worry and pain free and has reunited with loved ones that preceded her in death: her parents (Eli and Esther Mae Johnson), spouse (Curtis, Sr.), daughter (Gwendolyn), son (Steven), brothers (Archie and Jack), sister (Barbara Jean), and her neighbor and close friend, Dorothy Evans.
Lenora leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories: a loving and devoted son and daughter-in-law Curtis Isaac, Jr. (Malia) and daughter Linda Isaac both of Texas City, Texas; three loving and devoted grandsons: Roderick Isaac of Texas City, Texas, Fabian C. Oliver (Latosha) and Deon J. Isaac both of Katy, Texas; one great-granddaughter : Skylar J. Oliver of Katy, Texas; two brothers: Cal Johnson and
Eugene Johnson both of Huntsville, Texas; two sisters in law: Glories Johnson and Johnnie Scott (Valree) both of Huntsville, Texas; one brother in law: Rev. Carl E. Isaac (Jerline) of Houston, Texas; special nephews: William Dickerson (Joyce) and Matthew Tubbs (Jackie); special nieces: Demetra Dynes, Leticia Tubbs and Sarah Tubbs Johnson (Ronnie); her adopted children Bruce Lester, Larry
Lester, Eddie Evans, Mary Mahoney, Vida Aldridge (Marvin), Wilma Evans, Michael Evans, and Tikeela Johnson (William); close family friends: Kezhanae Johnson and Shaunique Allen, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
