Celebrating a Wondrous and Beautiful Godly Life Sis. Rosie Mary Walker The Beginning Oh, what a bright day and a glorious morning on October 30, 1930, God sent a wonderful blessing, a baby girl named Rosie Mary to Jewel Apatha Weaver Finley and Joe F. Finley,Sr. She met and married Grady Walker on December 20, 1949. To this union five children were born, Grayling, Varia, Cynthia, Sandra and Vincent K Walker, Sr. (Lynda), Michelle. Their family joined Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in the early fifties under Rev. B. W. McWashington. Rosie Mary used her melodious voice to glorify God in the choir. She was a faithful member of the Mission Auxiliary and Prayer Service. Because of her devout service to Progressive Baptist Church, she was honored as a living legend by the Usher Board. She was inducted in the Galveston County Sacred Music Hall of Fame and Ecumenical Prayer Hall of Fame. She retired in the early 90's from Omega/DS service with 26 years. The Beginning of Eternal Life On the late evening of May 23, 2012, Rosie M. Finley Walker finished her race and started her eternal life. She is preceded in death by two brothers; Joe F. Finley, Jr. and James B. Finley,eight sisters; Velma (Rev. Frank) Horne, Ethel (Elmo) Wynne, Essie J. (Jim) Ikner, Dorothy Ruiz (Tommie) Mayfield, Raymond A. (Raymond) Lovings, Mary L. Garrett, Emma Bell Eirven (Roger-C.J.) and Jolene Finley Fowler Hamilton C. Albert, and Charles. Her Love will always remain in the hearts of her family, devoted husband of 62 years, Grady Walker; children, Grayling Walker (Annette), Varia Walker, Cynthia Walker Taylor (Llewellyn), Sandra Walker Bell (Jerome) and Vincent K Walker, Sr. (Lynda), her only surviving brother; William Bill (Ethel) Finley; her eighteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; her devoted friends, Ella M. Cartwright, Dorothy M. Hunt Finley, Lillie Alexander, Elzena Nolley; her two God-children, Rev. Michael Parker and Wanda Aldridge and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
