Richard C Elliott

Richard Charles Elliott Jr., 80, of Lancaster, Ohio passed away on Sunday July 2, 2023, after an unbelievably strong and courageous battle for many years with Parkinson’s. Richard was the only child of the late Richard Elliott Sr. and Bessie (Petersime) Scott, born on November 29, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio. After graduating from the Upper Arlington High School, He went on to earn his Associate’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and his Bachelor Degree in Science. He began his Engineering career at Essex Wire in Kenton, Ohio. It was here, 53 years ago, that he met the love of his life Janet L. Bailey and they married on July 16, 1970, and she survives him today. He took great pride in being a Master Mason with 49.33 years of service at the Grand Lodge Ohio Latham No. 154. He was also a member of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction Scottish Rite and a 32 degree Freemason member of the Valley of Columbus. He truly enjoyed Fly Fishing, Golfing, Bowling, Painting, and revealed his best artistic talent when he and Jan started their own cake decorating business in the 1980’s. He was a devoted Ohio State Football fan, and nothing stood in the way of him watching his Buckeyes on game day. Richard is also survived by his children, daughter Cheryl (Lisa) Bailey, sons, Darrold (Lou Ann) Elliott, Shane Elliott and Kevin Harris grandchildren, Marisa, Kyle, Rodney and Makayla; great grandchildren, Storm, Owen and Grayson. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kimberly J. Elliott; step father, Giles M. Scott, Father/Mother in law Ollie and Christina Bailey, brother in law Jerry Bailey, sister in law Sharon Hamilton, his best friend Ted Bennett and his Golden Retriever, Chelsie. Funeral services are to be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Paul Wymer officiating. Friends and family may visit on Saturday From 10 to 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fairfield County Animal Shelter, 1582 East Main Street, Lancaster, OH or Meals on Wheels, Fairfield County, 1515 Cedar Hill Rd, Lancaster, OH 43130 in Richard’s memory.
