  I met steve at the north american weight room back in 1978 .We became friends , went on a couple of trips ,fla. , n. carolina, and had a blast. after workouts the steve ,me and the rest of the gang would go brown derby and eat steaks ,lobster ,etc. always had alot of fun with steve , one great guy and a true friend ,every body at the gym liked steve .

He was mine and my brothers principal at East Elementary & I had the privilege to serve him & his wife breakfast at my families restaurant on Saturday mornings...usually a Sausage, Mushroom and Cheese Omelet... ;) He was a great person and always wore a big smile! I had the pleasure of having Mr. Stahley during my elementary days at East. I always remember him as the giant man with such a caring heart. He was always smiling and one of the most friendly people I have ever met. I was home a few weeks ago to attend a birthday party for a family friend in which he was also there. I'm great full I got to see him one last time and got to have a conversation with him. It truly saddens me that he is gone. The community lost a great man with his passing. He was able to effect so many lives with his teaching. Prayers go to the family in this time of grief.

When Steve was new to Lanaster City Schools I had the honor of being assigned to teach special education for one year at East School.  Steve created a positive, professional, and honest work place.  His deep faith and commitment to what he knew to be true was evident in all he did.  Our Lord bless and sustain you during this time.

My husband and I graduated from Whitehall Yearling High School with Steve.   He was always an "approachable" guy even though he was in the popular crowd.  We will never forget his kindness.  Steve and I went to Capital at the same time and on those occasions when we would see each other on campus, he was still a very nice guy, still approachable.  We are so sorry for your loss. I was so blessed to have known and worked with Steve while he was principal at Cedar Heights. He was truly a joy to work with. His compassion and kindness to everyone was so wonderful.My favorite memory is the Halloween that he dressed like a Viking for the school parties. It was a sight to see. Another great memory was the day I saw him at a garage sale buying fishing equipment. He couldn't wait to try his new purchases. He said that they would surely help him catch that big fish.

I am very sad to learn of Steve's passing. I went to school with Steve at Whitehall Yearling and played football with him as well. More importantly Steve included me as a friend as he seemed to with all who came in contact with him. We became good friends through out my Yearling years and caught up with one another at out 10th Anniversary with pictures and laughs! Mr. Stahley was a part of my life starting at a very young and impressionable age during my elementary years at East School. Mr. Stahley always emphasized the importance of selflessness and the need to help others. I distinctly remember being so proud about donating canned food to a food drive at East that Mr. Stahley had coordinated. I was saddened when he moved to a different school district but that didn't mean that my relationship ended with him. Every time I would see him out and about in the community, he always went out of his way to say hello and ask how I was doing. This news is very disheartening but I know I will keep some of the core values that he taught me for the rest of my life. Prayers with the family.

Steve gave me my first teaching job in 1996 at East Elem.  I remember how laid back he was in the interview-with a golf shirt on.  Though I was only at East for 1 year, I always remember his laughter and helpfulness.  My thoughts and prayers to the family!

Mr.Stahley was my principal when I was growing up at Cedar Heights. Most principals are known to be scary and intimidating, but Mr.Stahley was always the nice guy and I don't think that it was possible not to love him. I would go in his office in the mornings just to talk to him. He helped me many many times when I was young. He was one of the greatest guys I've ever met,and he will be very much missed.

We happen to be at the beach yesterday when we heard of Steve's passing.  There was an outstanding sunset last night.  Like to think that Steve had something to do with it.
