

William “Bill” Shonk, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born October 1, 1958, Bill lived a life filled with passion, dedication, and unwavering generosity.
Bill’s infectious laughter and warm spirit touched everyone he encountered. He was a man of many talents, most notably as the proud owner of his collision shop, Shonk’s Collision, a testament to his hard work and commitment to excellence.
Beyond his professional life, Bill cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary; his daughters, Heather Shonk (Dave Alvis) and Greg & Lisa Davda; his stepchildren, Maria Poling and Maggie Alfman; and his three beloved grandchildren, Landon Daugherty, Adalynn Bigham, and Hannah Shonk. He is also survived by his brothers, Bob (Robin) and Jim (Candy) Shonk; his sister, Trish (Jeff) Reese; mother-in-law, Norene Peck, father-in-law, Bryce “Bud” Peck; sisters-in-laws, Jennifer (Richard) Corney, and Celeste (Travis) Large; brother-in-law Bryce (Christine) Peck; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were as close as family.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dorothy Shonk, and his mother-in-law, Marty Peck.
Bill’s commitment to his community was unwavering. A dedicated member of the Charity Newsies for 28 years, including 3 years as Trustee, he selflessly volunteered his time and resources to numerous organizations, including the American Legion Riders, COCR, Fraternal Order of Eagles 2120, Lancaster Elks, Lancaster Moose Lodge Chapter 955, and Forty et Eight.
His kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed. Bill’s legacy of love, hard work, and adventure will live on in the hearts of all who knew him and loved him. He will be fondly remembered by his family, friends, and the community he so generously served. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date.
