Alfred Foltyn

In Loving Memory, Alfred Foltyn passed away January 13, 2023, at the age of 80.

Alfred Foltyn was born in Karvina, Czechoslovakia (Czech Republic). In 1964 he married his wife, Hilda. They had 2 children before defecting May 7, 1969, and then arriving in Canada October 31, 1969, after waiting in a refugee camp in Austria.

Once in Canada they had 2 more children while living in Calgary, Alberta. In 1981 the family moved to Langley, British Columbia and then Alfred and Hilda moved to White Rock, BC in 2001 to spend their golden years near the ocean.

Alfred loved the ocean, so he and Hildegarde vacationed in Waikiki for many years, even owning their own condo there. It was Dad’s second home.

Alfred was a well-respected Mechanical Designer before he retired at 72 years of age.

Alfred is predeceased by his father Theodor, his mother Marta, his sister Anna and brother Erich.

Alfred is survived by his spouse Hildegarde (Oslizlokova), son Tomas, daughter Gabriela, daughter Marie (Condon) and son Gary. He also survived by and loved his grandchildren Evan (Condon), Elena (Condon), Connor (Foltyn), Bentley (Foltyn) and KinsLee (Foltyn).

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 4th, 2023, at the College Street Victory Church, 9525 College Street, Chilliwack, BC at 1:00pm. Reception to follow at facilities on site.
