My sincere Condolences Pat I Remember when Dave helped my Dad Jim McEachern, and Dave Tebett with building our car port; i always enjoyed chatting Dave and you guys. 

Pat and family, I am shocked to hear of David's passing. We stayed in touch on our birthdays and as I was ready to deliver birthday wishes I learned of his passing. David and I were best friends as kids. We grew up on Dundas St in Vancouver and lived a block away from each other. We were close, always together, up to the time my family moved away when I was 13. He was my oldest friend and he will continue to be in my thoughts.

I will always think of him smirking, waiting to throw out a one liner.  Much love and hugs to you all.

Pat and family, I'm so sorry for the loss of Dave. So many good memories growing up and having you and Dave always around. To the many gatherings we had, to the stories my parents would share of all of you meeting every Tuesday for dinner and a movie.  Anytime I saw Dave he had a smile on his face or cracking a joke! I know no words can ease your pain but please know I'm thinking of you all. The loss of Dave will be felt by many!

Dear Dave, 
It's taken so long to find any words I guess I'm just not ready for you to be gone Dave  - hard to find the words to express any of all that I feel - you have been in my life for nearly all of it -back when I was an obnoxious teenager (your words if I recall, not mine, albeit true enough) ~  you and Pat got married when I was only 15 years old - this year I'll be 62 - you do the math - you have always been so exceptional at that, (as have all your children), among many other things. Tomorrow is your 'service' - egads man, that makes it so official - how can this even be! I keep thinking you'll just come walking out of your room and go make yourself a cuppa tea.

You have always been my protector ~ in all kinds of ways - from your honesty of what you have seen going on in my life at one point or another - right back to the days when you and Pat lived in Richmond in the split level ~ Pat and I  downstairs watching Ten Little Indians on the TV ~ full on  suspense happening when the power went out in the show ~ and simultaneously, the power went out at your house and then there was a huge big bang, crash; like a truck was smashing into the house - Pat and I both did triple time up the stairs and jumped onto you in the bed you were peacefully sleeping in - it turned out to be an earthquake - but you kept us safe - you have always been my hero!

You've simply always been a part of my life and it's hard to envision the future without you. I wonder who is going to be as honest with me as you have always been. 

Well my dear friend and brother in law, no doubt there will be many more stories to come over the years that will be told of you. I just know that ~I'll miss you every day for all the years to come - can't believe you left so suddenly - hope you are having a good time with all the others that have left before you, that we all loved too.

We first me Dave and Pat Bell in Richmond over 40 years ago and we became fast friends right away. We were Uncle Bob and Auntie Shawn to theirs kids and they were Uncle Dave and Auntie Pat to ours. So many great memories of our friendship with them, dinners together, kid’s birthday parties, traveling together. Dave had an incorrigible sense of humor that was always able to get a rise out of Shawn which made our trips to Mexico and Hawaii all the more memorable. When Dave and Pat moved to Langley and all of our lives got busier our visits became less frequent but when we got together we picked right back up as if no time had passed. Talk of kids became talk of grandkids and we couldn’t wait to share the stories over cups and cups of tea, although Pat and Bob had the occasional rum and coke.  Covid put a damper on our get togethers but we were able to meet with Dave and Pat in a park in Langley last summer and as always it was like no time had passed…. Dave you were such a good friend and we will miss you, rest in peace. 

I'm so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. I have so many fond memories of Dave over the years. He was always kind, and he had the best sense of humour! He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and I wish his family all the best at this difficult time.

So many memories, fabulous trips and special times over the last 40 years, where to start? 
Dave has touched the lives and hearts of many and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. 💕

Memories of playing baseball growing up always come with  Dave being a part of that. He was always so funny (a dry humour I can appreciate even more now that I’m an adult).
Dave was ‘the dad’ that could be depended on. A figure that was really needed some days for which I’ve always been thankful.

A wonderfully immature, humorous and loving character. Im 40 years old and he had been in my life for approximately that amount of time. I looked at him as a father figure and if the world was filled with Dave’s, we would all be better off for it. He will be missed, but never forgotten. 

David and I spent much of our childhoods together while growing up in Vancouver: attending kindergarten in a church basement long before instruction for five-year-olds became part of the public school system; visiting (or sneaking into) the PNE; (timidly) taunting the bulls in the pens at Callister Park; and spending long, carefree summer days at Jericho Beach.  I am so grateful that my wife Bev and I were able to reconnect with him in later years in Langley.  Visits with David and Pat, often over lunch or dinner, were always a highlight of our social calendar.  David was highly insightful, cheerful, outgoing, and an entertaining conversationalist.  He could be delightfully outrageous and was always great fun to be with. David never failed to buoy my spirits and leave a smile on my face.  His passing leaves a huge void.  I am so grateful to have had him in my life and will always treasure his memory.  

Dave was a great man; always was willing to help out when needed. Dave jumped in to coach my daughters ball team when a family crisis prevented us from being able to continue, he did this with no judgement and with love. 
My daughters talk about 'Mr Bel' always taking time to say hello to them at school when he was on site; he always made them chuckle.
I always enjoy the time spent with Pat and Dave.

Dave taught me how to swing a hammer. His keen knowledge of numbers and angles made him a great carpenter and I learned a ton from him when helping on the family home on Salts Spring Island and White Rock. 

His passion for coaching his kid’s sports team excited me to do the same with mine. 

There were many weekends spent relaxing in the backyard with a cold one and sharing stories about sports.
