Edna was born on June 20, 1927 in Saskatoon Saskatchewan to Edith Annie Williams (nee Murray) and Robert Pierce Williams. She grew up in Saskatoon with her mother and father, and her five siblings Murray, Leola, Ena, Irene and Ethel.
After high school, Edna obtained a teaching certificate from Saskatoon Normal School, and then took a position as a teacher in rural Saskatchewan at a one-room schoolhouse for one year. That winter, she travelled by horse and sleigh.
After her short teaching career, Edna moved to the west coast, and fell in love with Wilbert Hartford (Bert) Hansen. They soon got married and started their own family. They had three children: Warren Murray, Donna Leigh and Ronald Gary.
Edna was always active in her local church. She spoke fondly of the time when, as a teenager, she led the junior choir in her church, Elim Tabernacle, and sang hymns on a local radio station’s weekly broadcast. She also played the piano at church. Later, she was instrumental in a church plant in Delta, which was later known as Delta Pentecostal Church.
Edna and Bert travelled to many countries over the years. They drove their motorhome throughout Canada and the USA, with Yuma Arizona being a favourite destination. Edna and Bert enjoyed boating and often cruised the local coastal waters fishing and exploring.
Bert, Edna and the kids spent many summers at their cabin at Cultus Lake, which they shared with Bert’s sister Myrtle and her family (the Olson’s).
She enjoyed frequent trips to California to visit her sister Ethel and her family (the Blomberg’s), and to Toronto to visit her sister Ena. Edna was grateful that her sisters Irene and Leola and her family (the Ashe’s) lived locally, so she could visit with them often.
Edna had many friends who would gather frequently for outings, dinners and games. She loved games, especially Rook. Their New Year’s Eve parties were legendary.
She was well known for her positive outlook, being generous with encouraging words, and for her powerful prayers. Edna’s greatest passion was her love for her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, whom she is now with forever.
Edna was physically active, mentally alert, emotionally positive, and living in her own home with Warren, right up until she fell and broke her hip. After two surgeries, her health declined rapidly. Fortunately, she was comfortable, content and looking forward to her heavenly home, right until the end.
Edna was predeceased by her husband Bert (in 2014), her daughter Donna (in 2007), and all her siblings.
She is survived by her two sons Warren and Ron (married to Carol) and her son-in-law Thomas Lehner (was married to Donna, and now married to Laurel).
Edna is survived by her six grandchildren. Warren’s children are Austin and Brooke (married to Michael Heffernan). Ronald’s children are Kendall and Adam (married to Jessica). Donna’s children are Matthew (married to Angela) and Danielle (married to Steven Wagner).
She is survived by fourteen great grandchildren. Brooke’s children are Mason, Maxwell and Vienna. Danielle’s children are Lincoln and Teagan. Matthew’s children are Everest, Liesl and Effie. Kendall’s children are Malachi, Rebekah and Hannah. Adam’s children are Remi, Finley and Milo.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, June 19th, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Henderson’s Langley Funeral Home located at 20786 Fraser Hwy, Langley, BC, followed by a gathering at the Churchill Park Clubhouse located at 9208 208th St, Langley, BC.
