3 août 192717 octobre 2020

We are heartbroken to share that Frank passed away peacefully on October 17, 2020 in Langley, B.C. Frank will be forever remembered and loved by his wife Dagny, twin sister Helma, two surviving children Rick (Wendy) and Sandy (Jack), five grandchildren Brandon, Stephanie, Kendelle, Janine and Dusty and seven great grandchildren; Kyla, Oliver, Shane, Gabriel, Jack, Jesse, Jeremy and many nieces and nephews.

Frank was pre-deceased by his son Glenn and brother Fred.

Frank and his twin sister were born in Port Moody to John and Natalia Yurkin on August 3, 1927. Frank fell in love with his high school sweetheart, Dagny, and they married on November 26, 1949.

Frank was a commercial fisherman and fished Northern water until he and Dagny began their family. For many years, Frank and Dagny fished the Fraser River and ran the family business, Devitt's Diking and Ditching. In 1977, they moved to the family farm on Barnston Island where they spent almost 32 years dairy farming. Frank was well known and loved in the fishing and farming communities. Frank will be missed dearly by his family and many friends.

A private gathering will be held to celebrate his life at a later date.

The Yurkins were our neighbours across the street from us at 2158 Townline Road when I was growing up. Frank and Fred were young ambitious and hard working, an inspiration to a pre-teen such as myself. They built there own wooden gillnetters on the property hauled them down to the Fraser with an old tractor and held a launch party for the community. Fred did autobody work and helped with the heavy machine work. It seemed like there was nothing they couldn't do.

Margaret and I extend our sincere condolences to Dagney and family at this sad time. Frank was a inspiration to myself and have many memories of Frank going the extra mile to be helpful and understanding. Will cherish the memories of lasting influence in my own actions.
