With profound sadness, we share the passing of Gina Marie Strocher (née Ewasiuk), who left this world peacefully with her family at her side. She was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma in 2023, but did not let that stop her from continuing to enjoy her life fully.
Gina’s life was shaped by courage, tenacity, strength and passion. She was the cherished mother of Nikolas and Avajade, who were the lights of her life. Her pride in her children was endless. She was especially thrilled when they discovered her childhood love for softball. Some of Gina’s happiest moments were spent at the ball field, cheering them on, acting as the “official scorekeeper", and watching them grow.
Gina will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Faye; her sisters, Tanya and Lara; her brothers-in-law, Rod and Mike; her niece, Natasha and nephews Macguire, Zayden, and Quinn, as well as her former husband and father of their children, Greg, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by her father, Marshall.
Always active and full of life, Gina found peace in photographing nature. She always had a garden growing with her many furry companions at her side. She also loved to practice yoga and to glide across the water on her paddleboard. Her spirit thrived in the outdoors, where she felt most connected and free. There was always another adventure on the horizon.
To her many friends and the extended family who loved her, Gina was a source of warmth and loyalty. Her memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A small family celebration will be held at a later date to honour Gina’s life and the beautiful imprint she leaves behind.
